Are Protein Shakes Good For Weight Loss?

Recently I was asked are protein shakes good for weight loss?  during a live Q and A on my facebook group. The same person also wanted to know how else they could get their protein if they weren’t able to get  protein shakes.

In short protein shakes are not essential for weight loss. The clue is in the name with supplements…

They supplement a healthy diet so they are only necessary if you can’t get the nutrients you need from food alone. The main benefit protein shakes provide is convenience. It’s a lot quicker and easier to drink a shake then it is to eat a meal.

But where else can you get your protein from?

There’s lots of different protein sources these include: Chicken, beef, pork, tuna, salmon, eggs, Greek yogurt, lentils, beans and pulses, nuts and quorn, soya etc.

So to sum up the answer to are protein shakes good for weight loss? they are not essential but they provide convenience and are only essential if you can’t get what you need from food alone.

My personal recommendation if you do want to use protein shakes is myprotein. as they provide good value for money and high quality products.
